Dear Rich, Episode #6

                                                                 March 25th, 2023

Dear Rich,

27 days until Court. Another day down. I hope you’re having a nice weekend off. Just know that not a moment goes by that I’m not thinking of you; hearing your voice, seeing your face, and imagining you holding me in your arms.

I woke up this morning and redid Sebastian‘s braids. I did four big French braids before but his hair is so thick that after showering twice, they were falling out. So I took each one out, cut each braid in half and pretty much gave him true cornrows. Eight rows of braids! I’m so proud of myself. They look so so good. Now I want long hair again so I too can have long luscious cornrows. Later this evening, I have frosty again… You know… One of my regulars. I think we’re ready to transition from two braids to somewhere between four and six braids. I’ll keep you in the loop. I know you’re just dying to know, lol.  Speaking of hair… Since I went dark, and only used a Demi or semi permanent hair color, the fading is moving at a rapid rate. Right now the red and orange undertones coming through remind me of an ombré Hawaiian volcano… Pretty soon my hair may match my jumpsuit. Too close of a match for my taste.

I just got off the phone with Jule and she told me the most awesome news! The twins (Luke and Livi) auditioned, without practice, to sing at their high school graduation ceremony. Out of some thing, like 30 acts that also auditioned, they not only got in, but they are the only musical act to perform during the actual graduation ceremony! They are singing the undying classic “The Climb”… well… Livi singing, Luke joining in for the chorus while playing the guitar… in the vocal stylings of the one, and only, Ms. Miley Cyrus.  I’m going to help livi with some clever riffs and runs to throw in. I really hope I get to attend the ceremony. Another thing to look forward to.

I’m starting another book. My seventh one since I got booked in. Back in the days of dayroom 1, I read 5 John Grisham, books; all of them legal dramas. For inquiring minds and book fans, (Kassandra) the ones I read were: the rooster bar, Camino, Island, The Litigators, The Street Lawyer , and Gray Mountain. All of them were pretty good, and I felt like I could practice law after reading each one, but my favorite of the five was Gray Mountain by far. Now that I am onto the James Patterson books, I’m starting “Along Came a Spider”. I’ll keep you updated as I progress.

Frosty’s hair is completed and looks amazing! 4 cornrows that start as tiny little braids that build into medium and then large French braids ending back into tiny braids by the mid back section. If I were to give this look a name, I would go with either “The Bahama Mama,” or “Jamaican Me Crazy”. I feel confident in saying that my breathing skills have reached a new level. It’s an endless stairway of possibilities here in Dayroom #4. Full disclosure, my fingers are cramping and feel like they’ve been run over by four horses pulling the Wells Fargo wagon. But still, I feel like the Braiding Queen here in the “West Hollywood Hills” section of Dayroom 4. Oh yes, I almost forgot. That’s what we named our 12 man housing section here. The West Hollywood Hills. Very exclusive. We’re even thinking of charging a fee for visitors to help with HOA costs. Perhaps a soup or a bag of chips. I don’t know, the details are still being discussed by the board. Hi! I’m “the board”.  Nice to meet you.

We finally got a new guy to replace Danny (the guy that left a few days ago to go upstate to prison). New guys name is Emmanuel, or Manuel. He seems nice and is very young; 22, I believe he said. He told me that he played the tuba in the marching band in high school, and without being mean or two straightforward, he looks as though he would be able to hold a tuba. He’s pretty “cool” if you catch my drift. I’m sure the boys will be extra loud tonight with her obscenities and cat calls. Can’t wait.

I’m super tired and I’m really really missing the babies right now. I mean I always miss them, but the thought of them is tugging at my heart strings a little extra tonight. So I’m going to take half of a sleeping pill and hope to see you and them wherever my dreams decide to take us tonight. When I talk to my mom earlier, she said that she stopped by the house and saw them with Scottie and that they’re doing great. It made me both very happy and yet very sad. I love you so very much. A hundred kisses…xoxo

Always, Sean ❤️ Pop Tart
