Dear Rich, Episode #17
April 5th, 2023
Dear Rich,
16 Days until court. It feels like I was just saying 32 and 31 days. So writing the number 16 put a small smile on my face. I was able to get into the phone line and call my mom and have her relay to John what the probation officer said I needed. So hopefully that will soon be under wraps. I returned some responses to the letters I got to the peoples addresses I have, so they should be delivered soon, and of course, trying to “truck through” this book. It’s so good, but so so detailed and long. But it helps to make the time pass. I am anxiously awaiting my visit at 3 PM with Tracy and Jule. I will write about that when I get back. I’ve also been trying to memorize the words to the song I’m singing on Sunday. Tell me why I’m getting nervous and stressed to sing for inmates in jail?!? LOL
I just finished my visit with Jule and Tracy. It was so great to see both of them. They made me laugh and made the whole visit so uplifting and happy – I just love them both so much. Funny story; on my way up to the visitation room I had to get “frisked,” let’s call it, to make sure I wasn’t smuggling any paraphernalia with me. Well, the deputy had me stand in front and face a see through window, where some of the guys from my old stomping ground, dayroom #1, we’re outside, playing a game of basketball. One guy saw me and yelled at the top of his lungs, “It’s POPTART!!!” The basketball game came to a screeching halt, yes, just like in the movies, and they ALL started screaming different cat calls, all including the word, “POPTART”. You know it’s a strange feeling to have a group of 30 grown man, all of them, jailbirds, to see your face and smile and shower and wave at you. I weirdly wouldn’t have treated that moment for anything; in mind you – my feet were spread, hands on my head and elbows against the window as I’m being thoroughly patted down. I couldn’t help but say to the Deputy, that had his hands going up and down my legs at the time, “ Those are my friends from dayroom #1,” to which he said, “okay you’re clear to go.” Not the acknowledgment I was hoping for, but a response nonetheless. The whole two minute experience sent me to my visit with a huge grin, knowing that even though it’s been over 2 1/2 weeks since leaving dayroom #1, my popularity and legend still stands tall. Then the visit with the two amazing women. Pop tart lives on. A good day indeed so far. We’re getting ready for “shift change” and I’m going to put three French braids in Eli‘s hair… Another regular.
The deputy just brought a letter from Tori. Oh my God- this letter is everything. It was an Oscar winning letter. I laughed, I cried, literally cackled outloud. What a treat that was. I can’t wait to respond tonight. I had to tell you that. Now, off to braid Eli’s hair.
Well, that’s done, and during the breathing appointment, which took place at the “4-top” table up in my “ Hollywood Hills” section, Je-Shawn was feeling himself some Whitney Houston! My main girl! We tackle such hits as: The Greatest Love Of All, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, How Will I Know and of course the untimely classic, I Have Nothing. I think I’m finally ready to debut that one at the next karaoke outing. Tori will be so pleased. There’s a group of a few guys that are “cooking” the infamous “Jail Orange Chicken” plate tonight. They asked if I wanted to “buy in” to the group. I couldn’t have said “yes” fast enough, even though it did cost me; two soups, a bag of pork rinds, and a bag of hot barbecue chips. It was like an $8 buy in! The pork rinds, of course, substitute as the orange check in with the sauce today for made of various spices, jellies, peanut butter, hot sauce, barbecue sauce, and diced jalapeños. Mixed with some hot barbecue chips all over a plate of decadent pasta. (a.k.a Top Ramen) it’s actually quite good, considering some of the food that is fed to us.
All in all, not a bad day at all. I’m grateful for the experiences. I’m having with the people I’m meeting. I’m sure it all has a purpose. I love you with all my heart and soul. Sweet dreams has been, we will talk again tomorrow. A hundred kisses…xoxo
Love Always,
Sean ❤️ Pop Tart
