Dear Rich, Episode #5
March 24, 2023
Dear Rich,
It’s Friday today so I know you have work off. I hope you’re doing something fun and not stressing about me. 28 Days until Court. Four weeks. I can do this.
Another pretty cool thing happened today. One of the guys downstairs, Chava, wanted me to cut his hair. Let me explain. Two days a week, we get two sets of clippers. 90% of the guys in here have fade haircuts or shaved heads. Probably because it’s the easiest to maintain without scissors. They’ve watched me do braids over and over again and listen to me talk about working at a salon and automatically assumed that I was a licensed cosmetologist that could do anything that involves hair. I tried very hard and descriptively to explain what I do, and that I’m not great at cutting hair with scissors, let alone doing fades with clippers. Their little to no English wasn’t having my explanation, and they quickly handed me the box of clippers. For what I was given, if I don’t say so myself, Chava’s hair looks pretty damn good, given the circumstances and lack of credentials. No scissors, no mirrors, and no chair that pumps up and down. Just the set of clippers and a 5 inch black comb. Everyone said that it looks pretty good. I was stressed, but something tells me that I’ll be doing many more fade haircuts before my time here is done. But honestly, I’m happy to be learning and being put to good use. Maybe one day I’ll be able to do yours. 😍
It’s 4:30 PM, so currently in the middle of shift change, and I just finished “Pop! Goes the Weasel”. So, so good. Kassandra loves to read, so I need to make sure that I recommend this one to her so we can discuss. I’m going to close my eyes and take a nap before my 7 PM visit with Erica and Melanie. XOXO.
Oh! David, the guy that I was telling you about that draws the charictatures (still not sure on the spelling) drew one of me with one of the guys,(Izzy, actually) looking at me from behind the corner. It’s pretty dead on. And from the drawing, all I can say is, thank you baby Jesus that I got my lips redone right before I got here. I’m going to send the drawing with the set of letters. Also, God bless that I can pull off orange as well as I do.
I just had my visit with Erica and Melanie. I love them both so so much, I don’t even know where to start. Melanie told me that her and Jay started playing the lotto so they can hire someone to get me out and clear my record. And then sweet Melanie said that she was going to see if she could add another phone line onto her plan and send you her phone when she’s in London next week. Maybe it’ll work since she technically bought the phone in the US and then we can just pay her for the calls. Even if it doesn’t work, just a thought, is so kind and selfless, it just melts my heart. I can’t wait for the day that we can take a trip to Hawaii with her and Jay and go hiking again. Definitely something to look forward to.
And beautiful Erica. My eyes are feeling with tears just writing down her name. She just always wants to, and has taken such good care of me. She was so strong and so put together even when I would start to cry, she would ask me why I was crying and to knock it off. She delivered messages from Andrea and her entire family, Bubs (her husband Michael) And, Tracy, and my mom. She assured me that she’s going to my court date on the 21st and she’s also helping with letters and phone calls and basically anything that I need. I asked her and Melanie both to check in on my mom and you for me to make sure that you both are doing OK. They both were so great with keeping the visit so positive and uplifting. I’m certainly grateful that both her and Melanie are in our lives for the long-haul. They both mean so so much to me. Melanie told me that Jordan says hi and that Lauren is printing pictures to send me. The Support is truly unreal.
I talked to Kylie Koo earlier today and she was just as amazing as always. I am so so proud of her-she booked a cruise ship contract with Princess Cruise Lines. How I wish we could go see her! One day. She told me that Lee Martino texts her and asks about me daily and is even sending me a letter. Lee was our choreographer for the SeaWorld show I did. I cannot wait for you to meet her. She is such a gem to be around. I feel like I’ve known her for forever and it’s only been maybe a half of a year.
To sum it up, I have a tribe, babe. WE have a tribe of people that actually care and truly love us. Through all of the people we’ve met and acquainted ourselves with, we finally found the ones that mean the most. The ones that no matter what, will always be there; for me, for you, for us. And these letters are hard evidence of just that. I love you so much and I’m already looking forward to talking to you tomorrow. A hundred kisses.. xoxo
Love Always,
Your Sean ❤️ Pop Tart
