Dear Rich, Episode #2
March 21, 2023
Dear Rich,
Things are looking up in the room for! I’m starting to make more and more friends as each portion of the day goes on. I have decided that these letters are going to be the thing that get me through my time here. It helps at the end of each day to write and reflect. Even though you won’t see this until weeks later, it still makes me feel like I get to talk to you every day. It’s like our own version of “The Notebook!” LOL. Please tell me you’ve seen that movie…
One of the best things happened earlier today; someone came up to me and asked me if I knew how to braid!! I think it’s hysterical. That people see that I’m gay, and that must mean I know how to braid. They obviously haven’t met a gay guy like you. Ha ha! :-) but nevertheless, I was beyond excited. My first day room 4 client! His “name”, or better I say, what he goes by, and here is Frosty. So tomorrow, Frosty has an appointment for two French braids.
When I was in Dayroom 1, our visiting days were Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Now that I was moved, the Dayroom 4 visiting days are Wednesdays and Fridays. Luckily, I was able to call my mom this evening and let her know. She told me that Melanie and Kassandra were planning to come this Thursday and the Erica and Andrea were planning to come on Sunday. So she’s now texting all of them to rearrange everything. So I’ll keep you posted. I still can’t believe what a powerhouse. My mom has been through all of this. I hope someday to inherit her strength.
Another awesome moment: a few guys in my little dorm area (there are a total of 12 of us) were singing songs and invited me over to “jam” with them. David and Paul were singing their favorite hits from the 80s, and Cody sang me his original country song that he wrote while here. Funny how things work out. 24 hours ago I was so sad and praying I would get sent back to Dayroom 1, and now I believe that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be for the time being. If Tori were here with me, I would turn to her to say: “ like my friend orphan, Annie, once said, ‘ the sun will come out, tomorrow – bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, they will be sun!” if you don’t know the tune, look it up. This song is called “Tomorrow” from the musical “Annie”. It’s extremely cheesy but can be powerful in the right context.
My commissary order just got here. Maybe I’ll “cook” a late night snack, read my letters and attempt to call it a night. I love you forever and always and will see you later in my dreams. Until tomorrow my love… A hundred kisses, xoxo
Yours, forever,
Sean ❤️ “Pop Tart”
